Sam Johnstone: Back with Man United
Manchester United have recalled Sam Johnstone from his loan spell at Doncaster Rovers.
The goalkeeper is a transfer target for Rovers' League One rivals Preston, who it is understood are in talks with United to sign the England Under-21 international on a permanent deal.
Doncaster recently extended Johnstone's loan until January 28 but they are now back in the market for another keeper and boss Paul Dickov is hopeful of filling the position before his side host South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on Saturday.
Johnstone made 14 appearances for Rovers during his spell at the Keepmoat Stadium, keeping four clean sheets.
The 21-year-old was also on loan at Doncaster for four months last season, making 18 appearances.
