Kevin Strootman: AS Roma midfielder remains linked with Manchester United move

AS Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has reiterated that Kevin Strootman will not be sold anytime soon.

The Netherlands international is still recovering from a serious knee injury that he picked up in March.

The midfielder is expected to return to competitive action by December, but recent reports have suggested that Manchester United could make a move for him in January.

United manager Louis van Gaal has worked with Strootman at the Netherlands national team and rates him highly.

However, Sabatini insists that Strootman is an important player for Roma and will not be sold anytime soon.

“I have found that all of the lavish things that are coming out are stories that are all from England,” he told reporters.

“There is no issue with Strootman, who is one of our important players and who we miss very much. There have been months now without him and around him we had built a style of play.

“He will return soon and he is not on the market - we will give him the time needed to recover to being the same as before.”
